Job Description
Special Process Engineer (Heat Treat & NDT)
The Special Process Engineer is responsible for all activities, equipment, processes and accreditation in the Heat Treatment and NDT Process areas.
Oversee Heat Treat, metallurgical testing and NDT processes in accordance with the NADCAP and AS9100 requirements.
Ensure Heat Treat & NDT policies & procedures, documentation, and practices are in place per industry standards
Issue and revise standard policies and operating procedures, work instructions and forms in accordance of the applicable standards (NADCAP)
Prepare department for Heat Treat and NDT industry audits (NADCAP) that sustain NADCAP Heat Treat & NDT accreditation
Oversee non-destructive testing (NDT, PI and X-ray) operations and working with NDT Level III to maintain NDT (X-ray & Fluorescent Penetrant) Nadcap accreditation
Train, evaluate and qualify inspection/testing personnel and heat treat operators on Heat treatment processes, hardness and conductivity testing, and NDT;
Train and mentor Heat Treat personnel regarding the use and operation of equipment according to manufacturer safety standards and the fundamental principles of heat treatment.
Provide guidance on nonconforming product disposition for heat treat process related rejections based on customer and Nadcap requirements;
Participate in the correction of any production or Quality problems
Conduct root cause analysis and take appropriate corrective and preventive actions to ensure closure of findings from all internal or external audits on special processes, including heat treat, NDT.
Ensure correct thermal processes are applied according to mechanical properties requirements, work instructions and/or customer specification requirements.
Program furnaces at the correct operating temperatures, times, speeds, and at any other criteria according to specification documentation.
Ensure furnaces, cooling systems, lifting equipment, and ventilation systems are optimized and are working according to the manufacturer and safety standards.
Actively involved with the regular checking of equipment and perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks, and calibrations.
Ensure company safety policies, procedures and expectations are understood and followed by all Heat Treat and NDT employees
Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work environment using 5S
BS degree in Engineering or Material Sciences preferred
Minimum 3-5 years of Heat Treat experience required
Experience in an ISO9000 & AS9100 environment.
Experience with NADCAP audit and accreditation
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory or lead role in heat treat.
Extensive knowledge of heat treat processes and heat treat furnace equipment.
Ability to use and interpret customer drawings, specification and blueprint.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts, carry out instructions furnished in written, or diagram form.
Ability to write quality reports, business correspondence and communicate effectively with customer source and other functional department staff.
Experience in an ISO9000 & AS9100 environment.
Proficient using Microsoft Office ? Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
